Myotonic dystrophy can safely be diagnosed only on clinical, electromyographic and ophthalmological examination. This diagnosis is then further supported by the examination of immunological parameters. The total of 12 members covering three generations of one family were examined, in which myotonic dystrophy was proved. The most frequent finding of abnormal immunological values was a decrease in T and B-lymphocytes in peripheral blood and, furthermore, an inconstant increase in circulating immune complexes, not described in literature so far. The known decrease in serum immunoglobulins was demonstrated in our patients with myotonic dystrophy mainly for TgA, less so for IgG. A trend to decreased serum zinc level was found in 4 examinations.
