The unidentified specimen of Paragonimus recovered by Grados et al. (1972) following experimental infection of a dog with metacercariae from Pseudothelphusa chilensis, collected in northern Peru, is now confirmed as Paragonimus caliensis. This is the first positive record of this fluke outside Columbia, although it is now probable that it occurs in Ecuador.
