Hälften av alla livmoderinlägg som sätts in i Sverige idag är levonorgestrelfrisättande. Tre fall av streptokocksepsis grupp A (GAS) i anslutning till insättning av dessa livmoderinlägg rapporteras. Huruvida de har samband med ökande incidens av GAS-sepsis, spiralinsättningen i sig eller detta livmoderinläggs större diameter och hormoninnehåll diskuteras.
