Following an initial report of this trypanosome of freshwater fishes, and its leech vector, the author successfully infected the catfish (Clarias lazera) and 8 other species of fish. In fishes that survived, trypanosomes persisted in the blood for up to 7 months. In the leech host (B. tricarinata), trypanosomes could survive for 10 months. The leech particularly attacked Chrysichthys auratus.
