Biliopleurobronchial fistula as a complication of hepatic hydatidosis

The case is reported of a 56-year-old man from Spain, who had been previously treated for hepatic echinococcosis. He presented with epigastric pain which was intensified by deep breathing. He was seropositive for Echinococcus. Computed tomography revealed 2 hydatid cysts in the left hepatic lobe. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a fistula in the diaphragm linking the hepatic lobe with the lung. The patient was successfully treated by thoracic drainage and aspiration.
