Manifestations of cerebral functional asymmetry in lateralization of a moving sound image

Patterns of the lateralization of a moving coalescent sound image (CSI) were studied in 10 right-handed individuals. The movement of CSI was created at the account of gradual change in time of the level of interaural differences in the length of stimulation by binaural presentation of a series of clicks. The characteristics of CSI shifts with respect to the head median were evaluated at the end of movement on the basis of changes in stimulation intensity. These parameters reflected the asymmetric nature of the lateralization of moving CSI, as well as the predominance of the right hemispheric mechanisms of lateralization. The asymmetry observed was to a large extent determined by the direction of CSI movement and exceeded asymmetry in the lateralization of immobile CSI.
