In one relatively normal Zambian African subject in whom the jejunal infusion of 5% glucose solution was made at 25 cm past the duodenojejunal flexure plasma insulin response was higher during the jejunal than during venous infusion. In another group of 5 subjects in whom jejunal infusions were made more distally, 45 to 65 cm, the reverse was the case; blood glucose and plasma insulin curves were flat in 2 subjects in whom the infusions were made more than 50 cm below the duodenojejunal flexure.
