Poverty, child malnutrition and morbidity in urban area families from Gran La Plata, Buenos Aires

A comparative study was carried in 2 samples of 50 families. Families were from Gran La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and were of low socioeconomic status. One group consisted of families where at least one child suffered malnutrition. The other group of families had no evidence of malnutrition. Sociodemographic, economic and environmental differences between the groups were identified. There was a strong positive correlation between primary malnutrition and an increase in children morbidity and mortality.
