Clinical and clinicopathological characteristics of 18 Greyhounds with idiopathic cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy, admitted to the Kansas State University veterinary medical teaching hospital, were evaluated. The dogs ranged from 11 to 56 months old. All dogs had single-to-multiple cutaneous ulcers involving the limbs and, in some dogs, the groin. None of the dogs had ulcers involving the head or trunk. None of the dogs had serological evidence of active rickettsiosis, ehrlichiosis or leptospirosis. 10 dogs had renal azotaemia, 16 had anaemia, 11 had hypoalbuminaemia and 18 developed thrombocytopenia. Compared with dogs without renal azotaemia, dogs with renal azotaemia had significantly lower mean platelet count, haematocrit, and serum albumin concentration and significantly higher mean neutrophil count and creatine kinase activity. All 10 dogs with renal azotaemia died or were killed; 7 of 8 dogs without azotaemia survived.
