Based on his own experimental findings and data available in the literature, the author provides evidence for the expediency of using glutamate alone and in combination with glycine and methionine to correct abnormalities accompanied by hypoxia and imbalance between the rate of free radical oxidation and the degree of antioxidative defense. Pathogenetic therapy with the adaptogens amino acids in combination with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is considered.
