Studies on lactation in poor Indian communities

This study is based on 14 mothers belonging to the poor socio-economic group, and their infants. Data are given on the mean 24-hr. milk.outputs during the first 24 wk. of lactation. The output increased between I and 6 wk, , then declined up to 12 wk., rose to a maximum by 16 wk. and then fluctuated up to 24 wk., when the level was still high.
