A study which showed that mixing a few tame nyala (Tragelaphus angasi) with newly captures southern reedbuck (Redunca arundinum) or mountain reedbuck (T. fulvorufula) successfully reduced physical injury, myopathy and stress-related mortalities in the reedbuck is described briefly. The reedbuck settled and began to feed more quickly after capture when the nyala were present in the pen. Once the reedbuck had settled the nyala could be removed.
