Fourteen strains originating from mouldy animal foodstuffs were grown as pure cultures on grain mix and fed to immature rats. Eleven of the strains had an oestrogenic effect on the rats. The strains isolated from cases of suspected swine infertility and swine abortions showed the highest oestrogenic effect.
