The surface ultrastructure of the cervix uteri in cattle was characterized by conspicuous cervical crypts and folds. The cervical mucosa was made up of ciliated cells and different types of non-ciliated cells. Ciliated cells, found singly or in groups, had well-developed kinocilia, and non-ciliated cells had microvilli. The proportion of ciliated cells in the cervix varied in the different cows and different segments of the cervix of the same cow. Different segments of the cervix differed in the shape, height, number, and morphological features of microvilli of the secretory cells and tissue organization of mucosal folds.
