Incidence and mortality of myocardial infarction in inhabitants of the Lublin province

In the years 1993-1995 the incidence of myocardial infarction in the professionally engaged inhabitants of Lublin province was 16.4 per 10,000 population. The myocardial infarction attack rate in men (25.8 per 10,000 population) was three times as high as that in woman (7.4 per 10,000 population). The overall mortality rate of myocardial infarction in the adult inhabitants of Lublin province reached the value of 39.8%. After adjustment for sex fatality rates in men and in women were 41.7% and 33.4%, respectively. The percentage of out hospital deaths (25.2%) was significantly higher than that of in-hospital deaths (19.6%).
