The authors present their experience of pH monitoring in children performed in patients in the Pediatric Division selected on the basis of the following criteria: endoscopic evidence of incontinent cardia with or without oesophagitis, presence of pyrosis/epigastralgia even in the absence of objective endoscopic findings, dry cough without bronchopulmonary findings, vomit with apparent endoscopic causes, presence of anti-helicobacter antibodies with clinical symptoms. The authors report their findings and discuss them in comparison to the literature. They conclude by affirming that pH monitoring is a well tolerated and easily performed test in children. It may provide indications and useful clarifications regarding a number of pathologies often over- or undervalued by the doctors in charge or parents, leading to the start of correct treatment with excellent clinical results.
