A caries control programme for adult patients

This paper concerns the management of an adult patient with a caries problem. Once a dentist has decided the patient is at high risk to dental decay, involvement of the patient in the management of the problem is essential because it is the patient who will control caries, not the dentist. It is essential to determine why the patient is at risk so that risk factors may be modified appropriately. All members of the dental team have a role to play.
