The advantages of a novel formulation of cypermethrin (Excis) for the control of sea lice [Caligidae] on salmon are discussed. Studies have shown its lack of toxicity, particularly to lobsters close to salmon cages. The lack of toxicity is believed to be due to its novel formulation and dosage system. Marketing authorisation has not been issued for this formulation as a withdrawal period has not yet been allocated.
