When tampons containing 200 mg CAP were inserted, 8 of 10 cows were in continuous oestrus, overt or silent, during the 18 days of treatment, and 2 of the 10 cows showed overt oestrus in the 5-10 days after treatment. By contrast, injection of 6 mg/day of CAP inhibited expression of oestrus in 10, and 6 of these showed overt heat in the 5-10 days after treatment.
