A case is reported in a 6-year-old girl from Brazil who developed fever and inflamed papules with necrotic cores on the leg and periorbital region, 7 days after undergoing an allogeneic bone marrow transplant. Chest X-ray showed interstitial pneumonitis associated with hypoxaemia. Fusarium sp. was cultured from skin biopsy samples. The patient died 1 week later, despite administration of amphotericin B. Postmortem examination of the brain revealed Fusarium sp. infection of the brain.
