Surgical tactics in injuries of the ungual phalanges of the fingers in children

Trauma of the ungual phalanges of the fingers constitute about 60% of the hand injuries in children. The authors performed 58 primary plastic operations in children with use of pedicled skin flap from the palmar surface of the hand for closure of the scalped wounds without denudation, with denudation and protrusion of the ungual phalanx bone, implantation, of the ungual phalanx into the thenar region in the circular scalped wounds with denudation and bone protrusion. The operations were performed in two stages. The mean duration of the treatment was 30-36 days. Analysis of the long-term results in 34 children has shown, that the primary plastic operations restore the anatomical integrity and function of the fingers.
