Screening method for aflatoxin in corn and various corn products

In this abbreviated method the residual oil from a water-chloroform extraction of the sample is used for spotting the thin-layer chromatogram. The silica gel clean-up column is omitted. Sensitivity is <5 mu g aflatoxin B1/kg maize sample. The method can be used for shelled maize, maize meal, canned sweet corn and corn breakfast cereal.
