Infant colic is a self-limiting condition I which usually resolves by the age of three to four months. Attacks may be almost as distressing to the parents as to the baby. The primary objective of treatment is to reduce the incidence of symptoms until natural resolution occurs. The most likely cause is gas becoming entrapped in loops of bowel, with resulting painful spasmodic intestinal contraction. From this work simethicone therapy appears to offer a safe and reliable means of treating the symptoms of infant colic. The dropper unit supplied, and low volume of the medication, helped administration to infants.
