On cestodes of Passer domesticus. I. Choanotaenia, Raillietina and Proparuterina

To the best knowledge of the writers, so far only one cestode, viz., Choanotaenia gondwana Inamdar, 1934 has been described from this bird in India at Nagpur, and this has been recently treated by one of them (Saxena 1971) as a synonym of Choanotaenia passerina (Fuhrmann, 1907). A number of species are known from P. domesticus beyond the confines of India, namely, Dilepis unduly (Schrank, 1788) Weinland, 1858 from Hertfordshire, England (Mettrick, 1958); Anonchotaenia bobica Clerc, 1903 from Erlangen, West Germany (Gasslein, 1954); Hymenolepis (H.) fringillarunt (Rudolphi, 1810) Fuhrmann, 1906 from Europe (Fuhrmann 1908); Dilepis attenuata (Dujardin, 1845) Fuhrmann, 1908 from Europe (Fuhrmann 1908); Anonchotaenia globata (Linstow, 1879) Fuhrmann, 1908 from Europe; Indiana, U.S.A.; Giza, Egypt; Moldavia, Russia (Fuhrmann 1908; Ransom 1909; Kintner 1938; Mahon 1958; Sciumilo 1963); Anomotaenia dehiscens (Krabbe, 1879) Fuhrmann, 1908 from Giza, Egypt (Mahon 1958); Hymenolepis passeris (Gmelin, 1790) Ransom, 1909 from Bavaria, West Germany; Lafayette, Indiana, U.S.A. This part of the paper deals with the accounts of three species viz., Choanotaenia passerina (Fuhrmann, 1907), Raillietina (R.) galeritae (Skrjabin, 1915) and Proparuterina lali sp. nov.
