The eukaryotic cell cycle is believed to be regulated by cyclin/CDK (cyclin-dependent kinase). The activity of cyclin/CDK has recently been found to be regulated by a family of small CDK inhibitor proteins. Moreover, the tumor suppressor gene products have been revealed to function as the regulator of cell cycle progression.
