Mechanographic method with cascade perfusion was used to study the participation of calmodulin and protein kinase C in the regulation of the production of epithelial relaxing factor by tracheal epithelium. The role of adenylate- and guanylate cyclases in the realization of the effect of the factor on airway smooth muscles was investigated. It was shown that the production of relaxing factor by epitheliocytes was regulated with the participation of calmodulin and protein kinase C. Guanylate cyclase was found to be the principal target of the effect of the epithelial relaxing factor on smooth muscles.
