In going to the Bahamas, Haitians not only cross an international boundary, but also move from an economically deprived, rural culture speaking a creole patois based on French, to a more metropolitan, tourism-based, English-speaking group of islands. Although it is always referred to as a migration, the paper shows that the movement has some of the characteristics of circulation.
