Effect of oral metoclopramide, glycopyrrolate and magnesium trisilicate on gastric volume and pH was evaluated in paediatric patients awaiting surgery. The test drug was administered .orally about 60 minutes before induction of anaesthesia. Metoclopramide decreased the volume of the gastric content but did not alter its pH while magnesium trisilicate raised the pH of gastric content but did not alter the residual volume. Glycopyrrolate did not alter either the volume or the pH of gastric contents when compared with the control.
