Variation of interactions between insulin and its plasma membrane receptors proved to be the leading mechanism of hyperglycemic syndrome development in extreme conditions (models of burn trauma and crush syndrome). It results in disturbances in cellular glucose intake, reduced hexokinase activity, and changes in the intensity of consequent enzymatic reactions involved in glucose transformation.
