Of 84 Marmosa mitis trapped in Colombia, 36 harboured Trichuris, 18 Capillaria, 34 Trichostrongylus, 40 Syphacia, 15 flukes (of 4 types), 13 Linstowia and 4 Litomosa. Only Trichostrongylus and Linstowia were considered to be deleterious to the animals' health. A single oral dose of bunamidine hydrochloride at 25 mg/kg body-weight was sufficient to remove Linstowia infections. A single intraperitoneal injection of phthalofyne at 250 mg/kg proved very toxic and did not eliminate all Trichuris infection. Thiabendazole given orally at 100 mg/kg daily for 5 days was effective in removing Trichostrongylus and Syphacia.
