The paper presents the conditions of the ocular strain due to accommodation and convergence, and adaptation to the varying lighting in computer users. It discusses the features of a screen monitors, work unit lighting and organization. Bad working conditions as well as undetected or uncorrected refraction defects are the basic cause for subjective and objective symptoms of eye discomfort. The paper shows the need for an adaptation of glasses to the atypical working distance.
