The effects of various groups of synthetic and natural psychostimulants on the electrophysiological parameters of brain activity were considered. Psychostimulants caused EEG desynchronization in various brain structures. Rhythm amplitude inhibition and rapid beta-rhythm predominance are characteristic of the desynchronization. Decreased absolute power of all frequency ranges and intensification of the relative power of beta-ranges were observed using spectral analysis. Psychostimulants change the perception of the rhythm of imposed oscillations at the direction of higher frequencies. Longer depression response of the principal rhythm (awakening response) to light or sound was observed. The threshold of responses to electrical and other types of CNS stimulation become lower. Latent periods of the early and late components of evoked potentials to different stimuli become shorter. Possible neurophysiological action mechanisms of psychostimulants are discussed.
