Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis, usually caused by Aspergillus fumigatus or A. flavus is reviewed, including epidemiology, pathogenesis and prognosis. Diagnosis by radiography, culture, serology and molecular biology; treatment with amphotericin B, itraconazole, combinations of antimycotics and surgery; and prophylaxis and prevention are discussed.
