With this research we wanted study prognosis and evolution of the Lennox-Gastaut syndrome after many years from the beginning. In the 13 considered subjects (middle age of illness 15.9 years, range 12-20 years) it was observed a disappearance of the typical electro-clinical manifestations (there are only G. M. seizures and partial seizures with complex symptomatology); in two cases (respectively after 13 and 17.5 years from the beginning of the syndrome) slow spike and waves in the EEG and atypical absences are still present. A mental deficit of various degree and in 8 subjects a neurological deficit were observed in every subject. An interesting datum is the presence of working ability in 9 subjects. According to the results of this casuistry, modest but regarding many years, the long term prognosis of the Lennox-Gastaut syndrome appears, in some cases, less unfavourable in respect of the data of the literature.
