An article describing the Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research and its programmes and activities, is presented. Researches on diseases being undertaken by the institute include asthma, measles, influenza, malaria, tuberculosis, nutritional deficiencies, enteric diseases, typhoid, sexually transmitted diseases, women's diseases, filariasis and other emerging infectious diseases. Other studies done by the institute are also mentioned.
