Ninety-eight patients of acute bronchial asthma were randomly given either aminophylline or terbutaline intravenously to study the relative efficacy and safety of either drug. Terbutaline was found to be superior, both in its bronchodilator efficacy and overall safety and can, therefore, be recommended for routine use in management of acute bronchial asthma.
