Barium salts are commonly used during radiological investigations. These compounds were considered as insoluble, consequently atoxic, compared with the soluble barium salts. Testing different barium products, we wished to show and precise the existence of an intestinal absorption of barium during barium enemas. Barium urinary elimination kinetics are modelized and compared after oral administration of six different commercial products and after rectal administration of four products.
