Day-old chickens were fed on a normal or a vitamin A-deficient diet for 3 weeks. They were then infected with Newcastle disease virus. The log LD50 for chicks on the normal diet ranged from less than 0.5 at day l to 1.5 at day 8 and on the deficient diet from 2.5 on day 2 to 3.2 on day 5. Similar results were obtained with chicks reared for 20 days before inoculation.
