Population education and family life in Seychelles

Tourism in the Seychelles has resulted in the breakdown of traditional institutions and values. This paper considers population education programmes undertaken by the relevant ministries, financed by UNFPA. The principal programme was a five year maternal and child health project, the Family Life Education programme. In 1980 a mass campaign was organized on teenage pregnancies. When the 5-year programme ended in 1983 an extension phase was implemented on the theme of 'family life education in the national youth villages'.
