Regulation of the activity of human natural killer cells by autologous interferon

Effects of alpha-interferon and gamma-interferon induced in 8 healthy donors and 9 multiple sclerosis patients on the cytotoxicity of natural killer cells were studied in vitro in autologous and allogenic systems. Total regulatory parameters were calculated based on the obtained results. An inhibitor was found that regulated interferon effects on the natural killer cell activity. It is produced simultaneously with interferon in response to the induction of the latter. Its effectiveness depends on the initial natural killer cell activity. This inhibitor is not present in commercial interferon preparations.
