Some sociological and organizational considerations on water resources development with special emphasis on irrigation

The key problem of water resources development is the increasing demand for domestic and agricultural purposes. In the various irrigation projects for rural development, water should be treated as an essential production input. The inter-connection between physical and social environments, such as social objectives and consequences of irrigation development, efficiency of water management, preserving water resources, communication between farmers and agencies, education and training, and research and evaluation are examined.
