Curing the child with cancer at the least cost in terms of short- and long-term morbidity remains a major challenge in paediatric medicine. The effective use of high doses of chemotherapy requires supportive care involving many disciplines. This review considers the interactions between the various groups involved in both early and late care of these patients.
