The topographical anatomy of the liver of the newborn calf is described. The right side of the liver is always situated further caudally than the left, and slightly displaced dorsally. Hanging of a calf by its hind legs causes retention of bile and condemnation of the liver. The distribution of the bile ducts and intrahepatic veins is described, and a radiograph is presented. When a liver is examined for fluke, it should be cut to the left and right of the portal vein, perpendicularly to the corresponding hepatic duct.
