The authors report the case histories of 9 children with AIDS seen in a New York hospital. Risk factors were blood transfusions (4), maternal intravenous drug abuse (3), haemophilia (1) and paternal AIDS (1); one baby was also of Haitian parentage. None was lymphopenic but all had reversed T4/T8 ratios. There was a high prevalence of recurrent bacterial infections and sepsis.D.W. FitzSimons.
