Contraceptive practice in the population program: the latest information from Indonesia

Recent data on contraceptive prevalence in Indonesia are analyzed. The author notes that by 1980, contraceptive usage had risen to about 26 percent among married women aged 15-49. About one-half of current users are on the pill, and one-quarter have IUDs. It is also found that contraceptive use has increased most rapidly among Javanese women aged 25-39. The need to continue the program's focus on Java and Bali if future program targets are to be reached is emphasized. (summary in ENG)
