A comparison of breast and colon cancer incidence rates among native Asian Indians, US immigrant Asian Indians, and whites

A study was carried out to compare the incidence of breast and colon cancer among native Asian Indians, U.S. immigrant Asian Indians, and whites. Asian Indians come from a region with low cancer rates and high coronary artery disease. The results showed that Asian Indians in the U.S. are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer and colon cancer compared with those in India, but at a lower risk than U.S. whites. If typical patterns prevail, rates of breast cancer in Asian Indians in the U.S. may approximate those of U.S. whites.
