Complication of intramuscular quinine injection: three case reports

Three cases are reported in children in which it is thought that inadvertent injection of quinine into the gluteal arteries and/or sciatic nerve occurred during intramuscular injection for the treatment of malaria. In all 3 cases there was failure of satisfactory vascular and neurological recovery during the follow-up period of 3 to 9 months.
