Standard techniques of project evaluation (benefit-cost ratio, net present value, internal rate of return) are discussed in principle and the adjusted benefit-cost ratio and the pay-off method are mentioned. Project evaluation based on a single criterion may be misleading. Reasons are given for the inefficiency of benefit-cost ratio and the greater suitability of net present value as appropriate methods.
