Women volunteers numbering 552, who had undergone laparoscopic sterilization in a 4 day camp held at Udaipur, Rajasthan in 1981, were interogated about their knowledge regarding methods of family welfare, motives for laparoscopic sterilization along with their socioeconomic status. The findings revealed that the reasons for acceptance of this method of family limitation were simplicity, quickness, safety, no hospitalization and early resumption of domestic work.
