Virgin female C3H/Crgl mice were given initially a mouse breeder stock diet, and at 3 weeks of age a hyperplastic alveolar nodule was transplanted into each gland-free inguinal fat pad. At 5 weeks, a control group continued on stock diet, while the remainder were given a semipurified diet containing phenyl-alanine from 0.090 to 0.300%, a group being pair-weight controls, for up to 10 months. Tumours which developed in nodule outgrowths were typical mammary adenocarcinomata.
